Johnsontown Park Native Pollinator Garden

A welcoming space for pollinators, wildlife, and people.
In spring 2025, Restore Our Roots and community partners transformed a traditional lawn area near the pedestrian bridge at Johnsontown Park into a vibrant native pollinator garden. Designed with a diversity of native flowering plants, shrubs, natural boulders, logs, and a winding pathway, the garden provides habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife while inviting visitors to slow down and connect with nature.
Created through the efforts of more than 30 volunteers, Downingtown Public Works, the Downingtown Shade Tree Commission, and other community partners, the garden demonstrates how even small public spaces can support biodiversity, healthier landscapes, and meaningful connections between people and the natural world.
We invite you to wander the pathway, observe the changing seasons, and discover the beauty and ecological relationships of native plants.
